Historical Figures
Some names in Aurelion survive because one event refused to let them disappear: a fallen dynasty, a forbidden wedding, a border office, a magical school or a set of notes that later writers kept quoting.
Names Left by Events
Aurelion's historical figures are often the inverse of conventional heroes. The source does not provide complete biographies and then attach events to them; it preserves an event and lets a person survive as the name caught inside it. The Heir of the Red Cult remains because the dynasty fell and the heir vanished into Gildglade's catacombs. The Vampire Duke remains because the Blood Wedding turned immortality into a political marriage and later noble houses became entangled with night clans. Lorn Taris of House Virr remains because the White Crown requires a governor in Velmir. Navmach Eoliy remains because storm mastery is easier to remember when a school of magic has a human voice.
Mezgrin is the most pervasive example. He appears as a Gildglade alchemist, author of Golden Notes and a voice behind several aphorisms and technical explanations. The caster material also identifies him as a gold-worker and oneiric practitioner associated with the Treasurer's Mask and places him among true Mages. That density of attribution is useful but should not be allowed to become an invented biography. Mezgrin is a documentary hub: part historical practitioner, part quoted authority, part name through which later compilers explain the world's metaphysics.
The directory overlaps with the caster pantheon because Aurelion remembers extraordinary magic historically. Navmach Eoliy is not merely 'a storm mage'; he is a figure by whom a whole practice becomes narratable. Other caster names - the Faceless Actress, the Burning Prosecutor, the Captain of a Hundred Storms - may function closer to legendary exempla than to fully documented statesmen. The Codex therefore needs a category broad enough to keep names without pretending every name has the same evidentiary status.
This is the real value of the page. It marks future narrative anchors. A figure with only two source lines should not be padded into childhood, romance and motivation simply to imitate a modern character wiki. Instead, the article states the event, the role and the surviving uncertainty. Legends can grow around the empty spaces. Canon protects them from becoming counterfeit biography.
